Revelation 19:5-8:
Then a voice came from the throne, saying:
“Praise our God,
all you his servants,
you who fear him,
both great and small!”6Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
8 Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)
9 Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”
Pastor John Piper helped me understand several years ago that marriages on earth, even those of non-believers, point to the ultimate wedding of Christ and his bride the Church.
So what does that have to do with the Kardashian wedding and divorce? If you happen to keep up with the news you know there are many cynics that say Kim only got married as a publicity stunt and to make money. On the other hand she has said she married with the dream of life long love. With the news media the way they are, it is hard to tell for sure what is the the truth. Whichever scenario is true I feel sad for Kim and her husband Kris.
If the truth is that it was all a publicity stunt it is very sad that they seem to have no clue as to what God intended for marriage, or the beauty of the ultimate marriage of Christ and his church. They truly don’t have a clue to what they may be missing.
If in their heart of hearts they married with the dream and goal of life long marriage, then it is sad that she gave up and filed for divorce after 72 days. It’s not like they didn’t have the money to travel wherever they needed to to get the most competent marital help in the world. 72 days isn’t very long to put all of your effort into a life long commitment.
Obviously Kim is very successful in the entertainment business. Quitting marriage after 72 days would be similar to her quitting the entertainment business after the first couple of bad reviews, rejection letters, etc. I hope both Kim and Chris eventually realize all that marriage can be and I dream they find it with each other.
